Privacy policy
Searches on this site are extraordinarily sensitive. Somebody reading a page about cleanup after a suicide is disclosing something about their life that they have probably not told most people they know. We have built this site to hold as little of that as possible.
What we collect
Nothing you type. There is no contact form, no lead form, no quote request, and no chat widget on this site. The search box runs entirely in your browser against a static index — your query is never sent to us or to anyone else.
No account, ever. There is nothing to sign up for.
Standard server logs, kept by our hosting provider, which include IP address, user agent and requested URL, retained for a limited period for security and abuse prevention. We do not join these to anything else.
A single local preference. If you use the light/dark toggle, your choice is stored in your browser’s local storage under bhc-theme. It never leaves your device and we cannot read it.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or share personal information. There is nothing to sell.
- We do not run behavioural advertising today.
- We do not use third-party fingerprinting or session-recording scripts.
- We do not embed social media widgets or third-party fonts.
- We do not send your data to any cleanup company, lead broker, or insurer.
Our Referrer-Policy is set to strict-origin-when-cross-origin, so a site you click through to sees only that you came from this domain, not which page you were reading.
If advertising is introduced later
The intention is display advertising eventually. If that happens, this policy will be updated before any ad code is deployed, and three commitments hold:
- Death- and suicide-related pages will be excluded from behavioural targeting. Contextual advertising only, or none.
- No advertising on /support/, at all.
- No affiliate links on any death-, suicide- or hoarding-related page, regardless of what any ad network offers.
Your rights
If you are in California (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of — but the request route is the same as for any other request below.
If you are in the EEA or UK (GDPR): you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. Our lawful basis for server logs is legitimate interest in operating and securing the site.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information: we do not. If that ever changes, a working opt-out link will appear in the footer before it does.
To exercise any right, email us at the address on our contact page. We will need enough information to locate any record, which for most visitors will be nothing at all.
Children
This site is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes
Material changes will be noted on this page with a revised date. Changes that expand what we collect will be made before, not after, the collection starts.
